The Gardens and Lake

The extensive gardens of this holiday home feature streams and ponds, connected by local slate paths. The house sources its water supply from the stream at the top end of the garden. A portable barbecue is available upon request, adding to the appeal of this self-catering lodging.

The lake within the grounds, known as Llyn Lockwood—sometimes referred to as Llyn Gwryd—was constructed purely for fishing by Arthur Lockwood in 1927. In 1946, Lockwood received a grant of £50 from the River Board to establish a trout hatchery at the back of Hafod y Gwynt. This ensured that the lake was well stocked with trout, including the native brown trout that travel up the Gwryd and down from Cwmfynnon, making this Snowdonia accommodation a perfect retreat for fishing enthusiasts.
